INFORMATIONAL EVENT "BUSINESS TALKS ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS"

The NCP of Bulgaria will participate in an information event dedicated to the role of business on human rights: Business talks about human rights. The event will be held on June 26, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Steps (Sofia, 12 Bratya Miladinovi St.) and is organized by the Bulgarian Foundation for Business and Human Rights with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bulgaria as part of the project “Business and Human Rights: The Dutch Experience”.

The Chief Secretary of BSMEPA – Mr. Lachezar Petkov will present the role of the National Contact Point of Bulgaria for responsible business conduct and common grounds.

The main goal of the event is to expand knowledge in Bulgaria on the topic of the intersection between business and human rights. Internationally recognized experts such as Ron Popper, Beata Farasik and Olena Uvarova will take part in the discussion, who will share their experience. A special focus of the event will also be the application of the theme of business and human rights in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and good practices will be shared.

During the event: “Business Talks about Human Rights” the following topics will be discussed:

How does the subject of business and human rights apply in large international companies?

How are policies changing in the European Union and what impact will they have on Eastern Europe and Bulgaria in particular?

Could diversity and inclusion initiatives be an opportunity to improve understanding of the topic?

How is the topic of business and human rights applied in Bulgaria?

What is the experience in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and how do Dutch companies effectively implement business and human rights rules in their business activities?
