On July 7, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., a meeting of the Advisory Council on Corporate and Social Responsibility to the Minister of Labor and Social Policy took place in the building of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. The Advisory Council is a body which handles the coordination, cooperation and consultations related to the development, conduct, control of the implementation and evaluation of the state policy in the field of corporate social responsibility.

Topics related to social responsibility, such as the Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy, were prepared for discussion on the agenda of the meeting. One of the main international and regional (European) initiatives and documents involved in the Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy is the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines for Multinational Companies.

Another topic that was part of the agenda of the meeting was the presentation of the National Contact Point of Bulgaria under the Declaration on Responsible Business Conduct of the OECD. For promotional purposes, a presentation was held by the Chairman of the Working Group, Dr. Boyko Takov, currently acting as the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency.

The Agency, in its capacity as coordinator of the activities of the National Contact Point, has created the “National Contact Point Promotion Plan for Responsible Business Conduct under the OECD Guidelines”, with main starting points being raising awareness of the Guidelines and the implementation of policies by businesses, visibility, commitment and trust among stakeholders. One of the activities described in the Plan is the participation in events at the international and regional level, with the aim of promoting the National Contact Point of Bulgaria.

The main objectives are to ensure the support of the government, nationally representative organizations of employers and employees, non-governmental organizations and civil society, as well as to disseminate among them a toolkit to regulate and guide their responsible business behavior and help them integrate these principles in their own activities.
